This Yamaha MT8X has been through our shop and it’s ready for it’s next owner. This is a top of the line 8-track machine with all the features you could ask for. It has a separate mixer for the cue mix (headphones). It has 8 individual tape outs for bouncing stems to a DAW. It has a intuitive routing design.
The following work has been done to bring this back to great condition:
– New capstan belt installed
– The belt that raises the tape head up and down has been refreshed with Rubber Renue. It is still working great
– Tape speed calibrated
– Capstan bearing olied
– NEW MOTOR INSTALLED. We have developed a new motor circuit board that clones the motor in this unit. It also works in TASCAM 424 MKI btw. This unit was experiencing wavy playback speed, and now it is playing perfectly.
– Some of the transport switches required extra pressure to engage, so we replaced the bottom row of switches (eg red, play, pause, stop etc). We also replaced all the tracm arm switches (eg 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8). They are all now super responsive and won’t cause frustration when in the flow of creating music.
-It has been thoroughly tested. Record and playback works on all channels. It is time consuming to test an 8-track unit (but it can also be fun and creative).
– Tape heads have been cleaned and demagnetized
Other notes:
– There are a few visual scratches on the tape door. These were there when I acquired the unit for repair. It is overall in very good condition. There are no scratches on the screen.
